Enormous Pokémon statue appears out of nowhere in New Orleans

"You can catch 'em all — but that doesn't mean you can bring every Pokémon home.

In New Orleans this weekend, residents of the Lower Garden neighborhood woke up to discover a gigantic 'Pokemonument' in Coliseum Musuem park. The bronze statue, probably celebrating the Pokémon Go craze, appears to have put up anonymously overnight, and police currently have no plans to take it down.

The statue, which was placed in the middle of a broken fountain, seems to have only attracted more tourists to the affluent neighborhood. Fans from inside the neighborhood gathered with onlookers to ogle at this bizarre, adorable mystery.

Some observers have called the statue ""Banksyesque"" — even though the anti-capitalist street artist probably wouldn't make an adoring tribute to a company that's earned over $160 million globally since the release of Pokémon Go.

As of now, there are only guesses as to who made the statue.

Karen Reese, the vice-president of the street association, reported seeing a ""mysterious man"" in the park Monday night.

Mysterious man, wherever you are, please speak up. The internet would like to applaud you.

Sadly, the statue appears to be a little bit too heavy for people to capture and take home. This Pokémon isn't going anywhere"
